This program is developed by the Department of Treasury, of the Financial Operations Division of the Central Reserve Bank of El Salvador. It was started in January 1, 2001, to let the people know about the new banknotes and coins into circulation, after the authorization of the dollar as legal tender, as stated in the Monetary Integration Law.

The Program aims to provide knowledge and to inform people about characteristics and safety measurements of banknotes and coins circulating in the country, to avoid to be fooled by fakes. If people knows the features and safety measures of the banknotes they can distinguish an original bill from a counterfeit.
