EXPLANATORY NOTE:

 

Eventually the difference between direct investment balances may not match the flow of investment reported in the balance of payments due to: a) expansion of coverage b) incorporation of untimely information, variations of which are transactions of another period c) other flows not due to transactions, as revaluations.

 

Technical  Note- Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)

From 2009 to date, the figures for FDI in the country recorded adjustments resulting from the addition of new updates and changes arising from methodological information Coordinated Direct Investment Survey (CDIS) promoted by the IMF. Participation in the CDIS let   to improve the statistics of direct investment and extend the coverage of the sample of firms surveyed, while allowing initiate action to move towards the adoption of new concepts, definitions and measurements given by the VI Balance of Payments Manual. The main changes are caused by the inclusion of information from companies known as "fellows enterprises",  in addition to the direct investor and the incorporation of the category of reserves in the form of direct investment.
Investment data are presented on a net basis, it means, a direct investment actives are deducted from the liabilities, so the balance of a country will eventually be negative.
